Judge Stephen M. Schwebel interviewed for the Eminent Scholars Archive
Wednesday 11th November 2009
The Squire Law Library and the Faculty of Law are pleased to announce that an entry for Judge Stephen M. Schwebel has just been added to the Eminent Scholars Archive
Judge Schwebel’s associations with the Faculty of Law and Cambridge University extends back over sixty years. Although he was never a formal member of its legal fraternity, he had, and retains, close ties with the University. In the conversation he speaks of his long and varied career, which spanned his student days (Harvard, Cambridge and Yale), an early period as an advocate in New York, two spells at the US State Department, periods of academia (Harvard & Johns Hopkins), a long incumbency at the International Court of Justice, and latterly, as a member of the World Bank's International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes.
The Eminent Scholars Archive is an expanding archive in which we document the careers and achievements of eminent scholars associated with the Squire Law Library and Faculty of Law at the University of Cambridge. The archive contains extensive bibliographies, biographies, photographs and interviews with some of the world's most renowned academic and practising lawyers.
Other eminent scholars already featured include Professor Kurt Lipstein, Professor Peter Stein, Professor Sir Derek Bowett, Mr R.W.M. Dias, Professor Sir Eli Lauterpacht, Professor, Martti Koskenniemi, and most recently, Professor Sir Bob Hepple.
