Professor Toby Milsom interviewed for the Eminent Scholars Archive

The Squire Law Library and the Faculty of Law are pleased to announce that an important entry for Professor Stroud Francis Charles (Toby) Milsom has just been added to the Eminent Scholars Archive.

Professor Milsom retired from his chair of Law in 1990, and has been associated with the University and Faculty for over sixty years, following his arrival at Trinity College during the Second World War (1941). He subsequently occupied academic positions in Trinity College (Fellow and lecturer), London School of Economics (lecturer and later Professor of Legal History), New College Oxford (Fellow and lecturer) and finally at St John’s College, back at Cambridge. Professor Milsom devoted much of his research to illuminating and redefining issues that had been examined originally by the legendary legal historian Frederic W. Maitland in the late 19th century, and his reminiscences are a fascinating account of how his career unfolded.

This is a further valuable contribution to the Cambridge Law Faculty Eminent Scholars Archive, which is an expanding resource in which we document the careers and achievements of scholars associated with the Squire Law Library and Faculty of Law at the University of Cambridge. It contains extensive bibliographies, biographies, photographs and interviews with some of the world's most renowned academic and practising lawyers.

Other eminent scholars already featured are: Professor Kurt Lipstein, Professor Peter Stein, Professor Sir Derek Bowett, Mr R.W.M. Dias, Professor Sir Eli Lauterpacht, Professor Sir Bob Hepple and ICJ Judge Stephen Schwebel, as well as shorter interviews with incumbent Goodhart Professors (Martti Koskenniemi, and Sir Robin Auld).
