Squire Library winter vacation information

Opening Times

Michaelmas Term ends on Friday 4 December, but the Squire Law Library remains open throughout the MCL exam periods and for much of the vacation. The library opening times will be:

Saturday 5 December - Tuesday 22 December and

Monday 4 January - Monday 18 January inclusive:

Monday - Friday: 09:00 - 17:50   

(closing at 12:00 on Tuesday 22 December)

Saturday: 09:00 - 11:50

Sunday: Closed

The Library will be closed from 12:00 on Tuesday 22 December - Sunday 3 January inclusive.

Book a Visit

Pre-booking is still required during the vacation. Please book a visit to use the study spaces, browse the print collections or use the IT facilities (including the photocopiers, scanners and printers). Visits can be booked up to 7 days in advance.

Borrowing Arrangements

Over the winter vacation University Staff members and PhD students may borrow books as usual. LLM and MCL students are welcome to borrow books from the dedicated LLM and MCL collections. Please note that the 'recall request' facility for books on loan will be turned off from 1 December - 18 January. This means that if you have a book out on loan and have not received a due date change notification by 1 December you are guaranteed to be able to keep this book on loan over the vacation period until 19 January. Requests placed before 07:00 on 1 December will not expire once the vacation starts so please ensure requested books are returned promptly.

Access to Resources

You can access e-books, e-journals, Moodle content and legal databases using your Raven password or database specific password throughout the vacation. If you experience any difficulties in accessing resources please contact us.

The scan and deliver service will also operate during the vacation (except for 22 December - 3 January inclusive), enabling you to request scanned chapters or extracts.
