Squire Law Library: winter vacation opening hours and services

Opening Times

Michaelmas Term ends on Friday 1 December but the Squire Law Library remains open throughout the MCL exam period and for much of the winter vacation. The library opening times will be:

Saturday 2 December - Wednesday 6 December inclusive:

Monday - Friday: 09:00 - 20:45

Saturday: 09:00 - 17:45

Sunday: Closed

Thursday 7 December - Friday 22 December inclusive:

Monday - Friday: 09:00 - 18:45 (closing at 12:45 on Friday 22 December)

Saturday: 09:00 - 12:45

Sunday: Closed

The Library will be closed from 12:45 on Friday 22 December - Monday 1 January inclusive and will re-open at 09:00 on Tuesday 2 January.

Tuesday 2 January - Monday 15 January inclusive:

Monday - Friday: 09:00 - 18:45

Saturday: 09:00 - 12:45

Sunday: Closed

Borrowing Arrangements

Over the winter vacation University Staff members, PhD students, LLM students and MCL students may borrow books as usual. Books can be borrowed in person at the library; alternatively, the Click and Collect service is available to request books for collection from the Enquiry Desk. Please note that Click and Collect requests must be placed by 17:00 on Thursday 21 December for collection before the holiday closure. 

The 'recall request' facility for books on loan will be turned off from 07:00 on Tuesday 28 November until 07:00 on Tuesday 16 January. This means that if you have a book out on loan and have not received a due date change notification by the 29 November you are guaranteed to be able to keep this book on loan over the vacation period. Requests placed before 07:00 on 28 November will not expire once the vacation starts so please ensure requested books are returned promptly.

Access to Resources

Most e-resouces (including Westlaw UK, Lexis+, all Moodle content and most legal databases) can be accessed whilst away from Cambridge using your Raven password or database specific password. If you experience any difficulties in accessing resources, or are unsure where to check online, please don't hesitate to contact squire@law.cam.ac.uk: team members are here throughout the vacation (apart from 22 December - 1 January inclusive) and we'd be very pleased to assist.
